Agnieszka Kucharska-Zajkowska

A specialist in graphic microbiology and a lover of large-scale marine fauna, she is a graphic designer and illustrator. She graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2005. In 2005, she defended her thesis in the graphic design studio of Professor L. Majewski, for which she received a Rector's Distinction and the Grand Prix in the competition for the President of the Republic of Poland Award for the best graduate diploma in design. She specializes in book illustration and poster design. She has received numerous awards, including at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw (2006) and at the International Poster Triennial in Toyama at the Museum of Modern Art (2006). For her illustrations to the fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood," she received a distinction in the Figures Futur competition in France (2007). In 2008, she and a group of young graphic designers illustrated a collection of Julian Tuwim's poems for Wytwórnia Publishing House, drawing, among others, "Mr. Maluśkiewicz and the Whale." The book "Tuwim. Poems for Children" has won several major international awards to date, including the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2008 (in the poetry category) and a Special Mention in the Polish Section of IBBY "Book of the Year 2008" competition, as well as a Special Mention at the International Biennial of Illustration in Bratislava (BIB). For Endo, she created a world of friendly germs, microbes, and bacteria.
