Making your own Christmas decorations is great fun and one of the best childhood memories. Not only do little ones create new, delightful creations, but they often use items no longer needed at home, teaching them about caring for nature.
An example of such a recycled ornament is a very simple Christmas project that any toddler can successfully make. This charming snowman will surely become the focal point of the Christmas tree and the pride of the little artist. Made using an old light bulb, it's a true zero-waste project.
- Worn out light bulb
- White, red, black and orange paint
- A sheet of glittery red foam
- Sponge
- Brush
- Scissors
- Glue

Step 1 - Painting the snowman
We paint the used light bulb with white paint. Using a sponge, we give the paint a snow-like texture.

Step 2 - Painting the snowman's hat
We paint the snowman's hat, i.e. the metal part of the light bulb, with red paint.

Step 3 - Decorate the snowman's hat
Sprinkle red glitter onto the still wet paint, thanks to which the snowman's hat will shine beautifully.

Step 4 - Making a scarf for the snowman
We cut out a strip from red glitter foam to make a scarf.

Glue the scarf to the narrowest part of the bulb. This will mark where the snowman's head ends and where his body ends.

Step 5 - Painting the snowman's face
The next step is to paint the snowman's details: a mouth, nose, and buttons. Using a cotton bud will make it easier to paint the rounded elements.

Step 6 - We make a bauble out of the snowman
Now, simply attach a string to the snowman to transform it into a beautiful DIY bauble. Your little one will surely be very proud that their creation is decorating this year's Christmas tree.
