How to prepare your child for returning to school

What can you visit with your child to spend an interesting and worthwhile time in the fall? One suggestion is to participate in the Free November at the Royal Residences campaign. For the eleventh time, castles across Poland are opening their doors to visitors free of charge. Throughout the month, you'll be able to see various permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as participate in educational meetings, lectures, workshops, and museum lessons.

Free November at the Royal Residences for the 11th time

Initiated in 2012, "Free November" is organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. As part of the initiative, children, parents, and seniors can enjoy the offerings of various historic residences of Polish monarchs. From November 2nd to 30th, 2022, royal residences in Poland will make some of their offerings available free of charge. The aim of the initiative is to promote museums and increase access to art for citizens. The number of participating venues grows each year.

Free November at the Royal Residences – 2022 offer

From the very beginning, the most iconic museums in Warsaw and Krakow have participated in the initiative, including Wawel Royal Castle, the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw, the King Jan III's Palace Museum in Wilanów, and the Royal Castle in Warsaw. In recent years, museums in Lublin and Sandomierz, as well as the Saltworks Castle in Wieliczka, have also joined the program. Currently, the program has been expanded to include the Royal Castle in Poznań and the castles in Kwidzyn and Sztum – branches of the Malbork Castle Museum.

Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw

Free admission to the Royal Łazienki Park includes permanent exhibitions in the following facilities:

  • Palace on the Island
  • The Old Orangery and the Royal Theatre
  • Myślewicki Palace
  • Kubicki Stables
  • Cantonists' Barracks

You can also take advantage of temporary exhibitions and 200 free museum lessons held in historic buildings, gardens, or online. As part of the "Free November" campaign , the family painting zone "I Paint in the Old Guardhouse" is also available free of charge.

Royal Castle in Warsaw

The Royal Castle is open for free tours throughout November from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (admission is free all day on Wednesdays). The free tour includes the Gallery of Masterpieces and the Royal Route. Tickets are issued on an ongoing basis at the box office until they are full.

King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów

The Museum of King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów invites you to Free tours of the Wilanów Palace and Park. Additionally, it offers themed walks and workshops for adults and families with children, including family calligraphy workshops. Wawel Royal Castle

Wawel Castle offers free access to permanent exhibitions from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.:

Lublin Castle

The castle invites you to visit its permanent exhibitions on selected days in November. It also offers a pool of free family workshops, including stained glass and mosaic making.
