How to make a decoration for a child's room - a pastel cloud made of yarn

A pastel cloud made of yarn is a delicate and warm addition to a little child's room. You can easily make it yourself. All you need is cardboard, yarn, and a little patience.

• Thick cardboard
• yarn in different colors
• Scissors and/or a knife

Step 1 - Cut out the cloud shape

From thick cardboard, cut out a cloud shape with an edge, e.g. 2 cm thick.

Step 2 - Yarn

The next step will require, above all, patience. Wrap the white yarn around the edge of your ornament. Periodically, secure the yarn with glue to prevent future shifting. Also apply glue to all sharp corners.

Step 3 - Pastel strings

Choose several colors of yarn and create a hanging rainbow, or if you prefer, a rain shower. Depending on the size of your ornament, you can create about 6-10 hanging strands. Each color should contain about 10-14 strands. Match the number to the thickness of the yarn you're using.

Attach the yarn strands to the bottom edge of the ornament and then even out the length of all the strands with scissors.

Step 4 - How to make yarn pom-poms

Making your own pompoms is very easy. Just wrap the yarn around your fingers.

Before you take the yarn off your fingers, take a longer piece of string and tie your ball in the middle.

Using small scissors, cut all the loops to create individual strings. Be careful not to cut the longer strand used to tie the pompom.

Immediately after cutting the loops, the pompom won't look very good. To make it look more compact, use long scissors. Start shaping the pompom into a ball by cutting off the longer strands. After a while, your pompom will take on a beautiful, oval shape.

Finally, we tie the pompoms to the lower edge of the cloud according to the colors of the hanging strands.

Now all you need to do is find the perfect place for your new decoration, for example above your baby's bed.
