Few things bring as much joy as observing plants you've grown yourself and a garden in bloom. The world of flora captivates not only adults but also children, who often observe everything we do with curiosity. It's worth involving them in caring for a garden, even a mini one on the balcony. This will make them feel important, teach them responsibility, and understand the laws of nature.

In the countryside or in detached houses, establishing a garden is no problem at all, but it's also possible in the urban jungle. Nothing stands in the way of creating a green nook on a balcony or terrace. All you need is a wooden box and a bag of soil, and you can begin your adventure with growing your own lettuce, tomatoes, or beans.

Think about bees

In open spaces, planting honeybee species together with bees in mind will be equally beneficial. These animals are threatened with extinction due to human activity, but all is not lost. Let your children take on the role of little heroes and tell them about the importance of these insects in nature. Explain that bees are timid and unlikely to harm you, but that you should still exercise caution and keep your distance. This should reassure children concerned about the possibility of stings and encourage them to respect the natural laws of nature.

Which plants work best? We especially recommend lovage, sage, purple coneflower, and lavender. All of these plants can also be used in the home, fresh or dried – as a garnish for meals, as part of healthy infusions, or in beautiful bouquets, such as lavender, which will release their natural aroma in the interior for months.

Tools are the basis

To further engage children in gardening, give them special tools they can comfortably use. A colorful shovel or watering can will surely delight them. Start a shared journal where you can draw notes about your garden and record how quickly the plants are growing. You can also play with the garden's form itself. Instead of traditional flower beds, let's create... an Indian teepee. Simply stick a few sticks into the ground, tie them together at the top, and plant climbing beans or sweet peas at the base. This will create a green wigwam where the kids can hide.

Science from nature

Playing together in the garden will bring a lot of joy, but it will also teach your little one respect for nature, responsibility, and patience. The reward for their involvement will be a beautiful garden or a blooming balcony, and... delicious vegetables that will surely taste better than those from the store.
