Recycling is a topic that's been gaining increasing attention lately. Experts are raising awareness about the ubiquity of plastic and calling for reducing waste production and proper waste sorting. The best way to introduce our children to this important topic is to engage them in creative play. Children have endless reserves of creativity, and unleashing this creativity will surely be enjoyable for both them and their parents. We propose a recycling DIY that will introduce youngsters to the concept of recycling and teach them how to reuse old items. An old, too-small t-shirt can easily be transformed into a stylish shopping bag or... a comfortable, soft backpack! How? It's simple! With the help of scissors, a needle and thread, you can easily transform a child's t-shirt with your favorite graphic into a practical bag that can also be used as a backpack. Fantastic, right? Just prepare a few basic supplies and let's get started.
  • Cotton T-shirt, preferably with a nice graphic!
  • Needle and thread in the selected color
  • Scissors

Step-by-step instructions

  1. We choose a T-shirt that will serve as the basis for the project – let the little one choose their “favorite”, then they will be happy to wear the new accessory, and that is what we care about, right?
  2. We cut off the sleeves below the armpit – to a depth that allows a little elegant or elegant woman to easily put the bag on her shoulder, for example.

3. Next, cut out the neckline to the same depth as the armpits we cut out earlier. This will create the "ears" of our backpack.

4. For the next step, you'll need the help of a mom who knows how to use a needle and thread or a sewing machine. Sew the bottom of the bag securely shut, and voila!

5. The original and quite comfortable bag is ready for summer trips and holiday fun, especially when we can wear it like a backpack at any time.

Do it yourself

It doesn't take much to show children how important it is to take care of things and how much joy can come from giving them a "second life" so they last a little longer. The DIY concept unleashes creativity and allows them to appreciate original ideas, and the resulting products are usually a source of considerable pride for the children who create them.
