What to wear to start the school year?

September is fast approaching, so it's time to think about what to wear for your child's first day of school. A school-year attire should be, above all, festive, formal, and neat – your child should look attractive and elegant. Such clothing should also be comfortable – it shouldn't restrict movement, so your student feels comfortable and at ease.

Beginning of the school year outfit – then and now

Back when we were kids ourselves, formal attire meant only a white blouse and navy skirt for girls, and a white shirt and black slacks with creases for boys. These days, these rules have loosened up a bit: sometimes kids even show up to the start of the school year in T-shirts and sneakers , but the first day of school is a special day and deserves a special celebration.

Often, guidelines on what formal attire should look like can be found in the school's statute or regulations , which can be a great help in choosing the right outfit.

How to dress a girl for the start of the school year?

There are several general rules describing the features of a formal outfit for a girl:

• the outfit should be in subdued neutral colors: white, navy blue, gray;
• blouse, with short or long sleeves, covering the back, belly and shoulders, without prints, white, ecru, light blue, light pink;
• skirt no shorter than 5 cm above the knee, navy blue, black, graphite, gray.
• flat or low-heeled shoes with closed toes.

Traditional gala set

The first set refers to the style of a classic outfit based on a white blouse.

The base of this look is a white long-sleeved shirt with a classic collar. It's accentuated by a ruffled hem and silver glitter tape covering the buttons.

The blouse is made of soft, airy viscose, so it fits loosely on the body, is not stiff and does not restrict movement.

A gathered navy blue skirt with a delicate tulle overlay will pair perfectly with the blouse. If your daughter isn't convinced by the skirt, pair the white blouse with classic navy blue jeans.

• formal shoes.

Set with a blue shirt

Your child will surely make a good impression in a light blue shirt with a subtle pinstripe and a subtle airplane print ! This classic cotton shirt with darts at the back, a rounded hem, and epaulets on the sleeves will look great with long, straight chinos in navy or dark gray.
