Winter doesn't have to be boring. While the weather may not be as inviting for outdoor activities, the coldest season offers just as many attractions as any other. Winter activities - Family evenings together
Poland's latitude provides us with short winter days and long evenings, so we can see sunsets as early as 3 p.m. Treat this time as an opportunity for relaxing time together that will strengthen family bonds.
There are many activities for parents and children to do together, maybe this year you will discover new, interesting games and ways to spend time together.
Try some activities, especially if you have never done them before, for example:
- Movie marathons with popcorn
- Reading books together
- Board game evening
- Playing traditional cards or other card games
- Puns

Winter evenings and love for books
How about reading books together? Winter is a great time to immerse yourself in stories. A great idea would be to start a family book club. Each week, one family member will choose a book to read. Depending on the age, it could be a young adult novel, a short children's book, a picture book, or even a comic book.
You can read it aloud with your children, listen to the audiobook, or everyone can read it individually if the child's age and willingness allow.
Sharing a book is a great opportunity to discuss the plot and characters. Ask your children which character they liked best and which they liked least. You can describe to each other how you imagined the characters would look or compare them to the film versions, for example, the characters from Harry Potter.
Instilling a love of books in children and giving them an example of reading and discussing literature will result in a solid education and literacy.

Winter activities for the holidays - Creative fun with winter in the background
During the winter season, we typically don't socialize as often as during the warmer months. Therefore, it's worth providing children with additional entertainment at home, while avoiding television and computers. Creative games and projects can be a solution to boredom and a way to develop artistic and manual skills, as well as spark children's creativity.
Winter is full of holidays that can be an opportunity to create handmade crafts. These include:
- St. Nicholas Day - December 6
- Christmas - December 24
- New Year - January 1
- Carnival - January 6 - February 21
- Grandma's Day - January 21
- Grandfather's Day - January 22
- Valentine's Day - February 14
- Women's Day - March 8
- Men's Day - March 10
Each of these events can be an opportunity to create handmade decorations or gifts. We can also prepare seasonal crafts, games for children, and even treats.

Pajama party for the whole family - evening winter activities with children
Of course, we can also decide to survive winter in true bear style and focus on lazing around and warming up under a blanket in our pajamas. A family pajama party doesn't have to be so lazy, though; it's more about relaxing and doing fun things. Get into your pajamas and prepare for a real party, where you can plan activities like:
- Baking homemade pizza, waffles and other favorite treats together
- Movie or cartoon marathon
- Relaxing by the fireplace, looking at old family photos or playing games
- Home spa with face masks and relaxing music
- Building a blanket fort and having a pillow fight
- A real party with music, dancing in pajamas and karaoke

Winter Activities - Discovering New Skills and Hobbies
This winter, indulge your dreams and try to learn at least one skill you've always wanted to learn but never had the time or courage. Remember to have fun, not strain yourself and force yourself to achieve spectacular results.
Let each child and parent look within and choose one dream they can fulfill at home. The other family members will be responsible for supporting each other in achieving their goal. A shared goal will certainly be easier to achieve, but don't impose your ideas on others if they don't feel comfortable doing so. The point is to have fun!
From among many skills, choose something you simply like or skills you admire in others.
This winter you can, for example, learn:
- to draw
- write poems
- play the guitar
- do a magic trick
- dance your favorite dance routine
- start learning a new language
